Governance & Transparency

Trust should never depend only on what an organisation says about itself. It should be supported by clear rules, effective oversight, financial controls, transparent reporting, and safe ways to raise concerns when something goes wrong.

Thabiti Alliance is building these safeguards into its governance from the outset. Decisions should be recorded, conflicts disclosed, funds traceable, safeguarding enforced, concerns heard, and those entrusted with authority held accountable for how it is used.

Registration Status

Registration in Progress

Thabiti Alliance is currently completing the formal Public Benefit Organisation registration process in Kenya. The organisation’s name has been officially reserved; registration is not yet complete, and no registration number has been issued.

The Board

Thabiti Alliance is governed by a founding Board responsible for protecting the organisation’s mission, overseeing leadership, safeguarding resources, managing conflicts of interest, and providing oversight of major decisions.

The founding Board was confirmed at the Founding Meeting and will assume its formal legal responsibilities upon completion of registration. Board members are expected to act in the best interests of Thabiti Alliance, disclose relevant conflicts of interest, and step aside from decisions in which they have a personal interest.

Family Relationship & Conflict Safeguards

Thabiti Alliance openly discloses that three members of the founding Board are related: the Founder, the Vice-Chairperson, and one Board Member. This relationship is recorded in the organisation’s governance framework and is subject to specific conflict-of-interest safeguards.

  • Any Board member with a personal or family interest in a decision must disclose that interest and step aside from the relevant discussion and vote.
  • Related Board members cannot use their positions to approve matters that benefit themselves or one another without appropriate independent Board approval.
  • A quorum cannot consist only of related Board members.
  • Related-party decisions require appropriate participation and approval from Board members who are not affected by the relationship.
  • These safeguards should be reviewed whenever Board composition changes.

Family relationships do not remove accountability. They make clear safeguards, independent participation, and transparent decision-making even more important.

Transparency & Reports

Transparency should make it possible for supporters, partners, and the public to understand how Thabiti Alliance is governed, how resources are managed, and what the organisation is learning from its work. Our public document library will bring together approved organisational records, including the Constitution, safeguarding and governance policies, financial and transparency reports, and other documents intended for public disclosure. As Thabiti Alliance completes its operating and reporting cycles, the library will develop into an accessible record of governance, finances, progress, and learning.

Safeguarding

The safety, dignity, rights, and wellbeing of the children, families, and vulnerable people we work with are fundamental to how Thabiti Alliance operates.

Safeguarding is not an optional programme requirement. It is a responsibility that must be reflected in our policies, decisions, partnerships, and activities.

We are committed to preventing harm, responding responsibly to concerns, and providing safe ways for people to speak up when something is wrong. Read Our Safeguarding Commitments →
